We believe the world is one, living and breathing whole, but has become disconnected from this source. Our work is based on the very basic but often forgotten principle that each human being, of any origin, race, creed, nation, ethnicity, or circumstance, is equally a miracle of creation.
Extending this moral principle to the more-than-human-world, we believe that what we do to the Earth we do to ourselves. Humans make sense of the world through story. For this reason, Cloudburst focuses on narratives that investigate the hidden connective tissue binding us across our differences. We do not attempt to paint us as all the same, but rather to explore the rich soil of commonality that can be revealed through curiosity.
Our work is expressed in immersive creative projects, campaigns, convenings, and narrative initiatives. More specifically,
We convene
We create media that tell new stories
We work with artists, musicians, and creatives on immersive campaigns
Between October 2016 and October 2019, Cloudburst held high-level convenings at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. These served to amplify the voices of local practitioners, especially, working on ecological regeneration across the world. During this process, Common Earth emerged as the operational engine to carry forward regenerative development in the Commonwealth. Common Earth, our daughter organization, is now an independent charity in the UK that maintains close ties to Cloudburst.
60% of the Commonwealth population is under 30 years old.
The Commonwealth is a powerful leverage point for change in the global community.
The 56 Commonwealth countries span Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Pacific, constitute one fifth of the world’s landmass and are home to one third of all humanity. They include the world’s largest, smallest, richest and poorest countries. An astonishing 60% of the Commonwealth population is under 30 years old. Great strength lies in the combination of its diversity and shared inheritance.
Cloudburst works closely with the Commonwealth to convene the most influential leaders for the greatest good. Since 2016, we have been a strategic partner to the Commonwealth Secretariat and have supported 5 high-level convenings that included leaders such as HRH Prince of Wales, Former President of Ireland Mary Robinson, Former President of Kiribati Anote Tong, Foreign Minister of Dominica Francine Baron and many others. Focused on systems impact, our convenings are highly curated gatherings that foster coordinated action around regenerative potential.
